The honest comparison

We sell a gemstone. Not glass.

Around us, the jewelry world sells illusion: crystal — cut glass — at precious-stone prices, plated brass at gold prices. Here is the truth, in three columns.

9.25/10 Hardness (Mohs)
2.65 Refractive index
18K Gold plating, 2 µm+

Kouchta

  • Lab-grown moissanite — a gemstone, hardness 9.25/10
  • Solid 925 silver, 18K gold plating (2 µm and up)
  • The same sparkle in ten years

Luxury crystal

  • Glass, even signed — hardness ≈ 5.5/10
  • Rhodium-plated brass
  • Scratches, fades, peels — within the first year.

Cheap plating

  • Cubic zirconia that clouds over
  • Brass and alloys
  • Blackens within months

Lab-Grown Moissanite

Brilliance that surpasses a diamond.
Without the compromises that come with it.

Lab-grown moissanite is a genuine gemstone — not a simulant. A hardness of 9.25 out of 10 on the Mohs scale keeps it beautiful for years, and its origin is entirely free of mining. On 18K gold vermeil, it brings the splendor of fine jewelry — without the cost or the environmental damage.

◈
2.65

Superior Brilliance

A refractive index of 2.65 — higher than a diamond's 2.42. More light, more colorful fire.

◇
0%

Zero Mining

No mines, no conflict. Responsible beauty, from the lab to your jewelry box.

Depth That Doesn't Peel

925 sterling silver with 2+ micron plating — not the thin coating that peels within months.

Craftsmanship

Gold in the making.
Every gesture matters.

From casting to finishing, each piece passes through the hands of our artisans for over 40 hours. The 18K gold vermeil on 925 sterling silver is hot-worked, shaped, polished, then hand-set. Each moissanite is selected for its purity and brilliance — then inspected under a binocular loupe.

Nothing is left to chance. Nothing is standardized. Each creation is unique — like the one who will wear it.

Our Story

1951.
The birth of a house.

In an exceptional atelier — where the passion for jewelry meets absolute rigor — Elias Kouchta engraved his first piece. A ring of 18K gold vermeil bearing a single word, engraved inside: "Kouchta" — the truth.

Three generations later, this heritage endures. Each Kouchta creation carries the same commitment: authenticity of material, integrity of craft, and transparency of origin.
